Our Thackley Wellbeing Centre.
Accessible, Inclusive & Designed Around You
At Sowing Seeds Wellbeing, our Thackley Centre has been thoughtfully designed to ensure everyone feels welcome, supported, and safe.
The centre brings together:
- A fully accessible Sensory Hub
- Training and group spaces
- A custom-built Independent Living Training Studio
We support children, young people, and adults with SEND, alongside their families, carers, professionals, and members of the wider community.
Every space and resource has been chosen to reduce barriers, support dignity, and enable meaningful participation.
Accessibility & Inclusive Facilities
We recognise that accessibility looks different for everyone. Our centre includes:
- Fully accessible building and sensory spaces
- Child and adult changing facilities, supporting comfort, privacy, and dignity
- Inclusive toilet facilities suitable for a wide range of physical needs
- Specialist mobility support equipment to enable safe participation
Mobility & Transfer Support
To support individuals with physical or mobility needs, we have an:
Electric Patient Lift (150kg)
- Mobile ceiling lift with nylon sling
- Emergency descent system
- Adjustable base (60–110cm)
This ensures safe, respectful support for individuals who require assistance with movement or transfers.
Across our two Bradford centres in Idle and Thackley, as well as within family homes and community settings, we deliver a comprehensive, whole-family support programme.
Our work focuses on:
- Supporting individuals with SEND through key transition points
- Preparing for adulthood and greater independence
- Promoting positive mental health and wellbeing for the whole family
We recognise that the wellbeing of an individual with SEND is intrinsically linked to the wellbeing of their parents and carers.
Preparing for Adulthood, Independence & Work
A central focus of our programme at the Thackley Centre is supporting young people and adults with SEND to move towards greater independence and the world of work.
This includes:
- Supported volunteering placements
- Preparation for supported internships
- Employability and workplace readiness skills
- Building professional confidence and workplace stamina
All opportunities are delivered within a safe, supportive, and sensory-aware environment, helping individuals bridge the gap between education and meaningful employment or further vocational training.
Support for Parents & Carers
While individuals with SEND engage in independence and employability training, we provide dedicated support for parents and carers, including:
- Training and information sessions
- In-person and virtual peer support groups
- Opportunities to share strategies and lived experience
- Access to professionals and partner organisations
This support reduces isolation, builds confidence, and helps families navigate complex systems and life transitions.
Respite & Independent Living Skills
To ensure families can engage without added stress, we offer safe, structured respite support.
During these sessions, individuals with SEND develop essential daily living skills in our Independent Living Training Studio, including:
- Cooking, meal preparation, and personal care routines
- Budgeting, money management, and financial literacy
- Safe use of public transport and community navigation
- Social skills to build relationships and reduce isolation
