Careers and Life Skills at Sowing Seeds.

At Sowing Seeds Alternative Learning (SSAL), our careers programme is designed to equip pupils in Years 7 to 13 (and above if appropriate) with the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need to make informed decisions about their futures and to successfully transition into adulthood.

We place a strong emphasis on Preparation for Adulthood, which runs as a golden thread throughout our curriculum, with a particular focus on:

  • ASDAN Personal and Social Development and Employability qualifications. Independent travel training to build confidence and autonomy.
  • Work-related learning through partnerships with local employers, community organisations, and further education providers.
  • Career exploration activities linked to the local labour market.
  • Guidance on a wide range of post-16 and post-18 pathways, including academic, vocational, apprenticeship, and supported internship routes.
  • Our programme is structured to meet the Gatsby Benchmarks of Good
  • Career Guidance and is adapted to suit the individual needs of our learners, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) or additional barriers to engagement.
