Safeguarding.

At Sowing Seeds Alternative Learning, safeguarding is more than a responsibility — it is a promise.

We are dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing, and trusting environment where every child and young person feels protected, valued, and cared for. Safeguarding and the promotion of welfare are at the centre of everything we do, guiding our practice both inside and outside the classroom.

We recognise that many of our pupils have faced complex life experiences that may have impacted their wellbeing, trust, and sense of safety. Because of this, we take a whole-school, preventative approach to safeguarding that is built on empathy, understanding, and early support.

Our aim is always to protect, empower, and help every child thrive — emotionally, socially, and academically.

Our Commitment to Keeping Children Safe

Our safeguarding practice is rooted in the principles of care, vigilance, and collaboration, in line with the expectations of Keeping Children Safe in Education (2025).

We are committed to:

  • Creating a culture of safety and openness, where every pupil feels listened to and confident to share their worries or concerns.
  • Recruiting safely and responsibly, ensuring that everyone who joins our team is committed to the protection and wellbeing of children.
  • Educating pupils about personal safety, healthy relationships, and online awareness, helping them recognise unsafe situations and make positive choices.
  • Identifying and supporting pupils in need of help, care, or protection through timely and compassionate intervention.
  • Equipping all staff with the skills, training, and confidence to recognise safeguarding concerns and take prompt, appropriate action.
  • Working closely with families and external partners to ensure every child receives consistent, joined-up support.

A Safe and Supportive Community

Safeguarding at Sowing Seeds goes beyond protecting children from harm — it’s about building a culture of care and connection.

We nurture an environment where pupils can grow in confidence, develop healthy relationships, and feel a strong sense of belonging.
Our commitment extends to every space where our pupils learn — in school, online, and in the wider community.

Every member of our team shares the same goal: to make sure that all children and young people are safe, supported, and free to flourish.

Our Vision

We believe that when children feel safe, they can truly begin to learn, heal, and thrive.

At Sowing Seeds, we stand beside every pupil as they grow — protecting their right to safety, nurturing their wellbeing, and guiding them towards a positive and hopeful future.
