Planning.

We have long-term plans for all subjects delivered. In English and Maths, a baseline
assessment will take place via Century Tech or delivered in line with the student’s needs when the student joins on roll. The pathway and subjects will be based on their starting point and their Individual Education and Wellbeing Plan will map out how the broad and balanced curriculum on offer at Sowing Seeds can be accessed by each student. Students will start according to year group expectations and take into account their age, gaps in learning, and what Sowing Seeds Alternative Learning are aware of about their ability, previous experience and other additional needs.

Schemes of Work are in place for all subjects and all year groups with differentiation for
varying abilities included. Individual subject tutors, alongside HLTAs and/or learning mentors, organise their short-term planning accordingly and record this via Learn Trek in the learning log. However, medium-term (termly) planning is submitted by teaching staff to Curriculum Leads and reviewed, with amendments suggested, and support given to staff where appropriate. Each child’s key worker will also monitor the progress the child and young person makes in line with their learning programme. A curriculum review is held by the Professional and Educational Standards Manager, the Curriculum Lead and Subjects Lead during the summer term, where curriculum elements can be updated so as to remain current, in line with best practice, revised curriculum standards and relevant to student learning.
